The farm is buzzing with activity this March.

As we celebrate 30 years of production, we’re marking three decades of dedication, growth, and commitment to quality haylage. Meanwhile, orders continue to fly out the door. At the same time, our team is preparing for the busy season ahead, with fertiliser spreaders already working across the fields.

March also marks the start of the turf season for our flat racing customers. With increased activity across the farm, spring is just around the corner.

As the season ramps up, we are also looking to expand our team and welcome a new member to the yard.

March Farm Focus: Fertiliser Spreading for Grass Growth

March has been a busy month in the fields. Fertiliser spreading is now well underway as we prepare grassland for the growing season ahead.

This is a key stage in the farming calendar, playing a vital role in grass quality and overall crop performance.

To achieve the best results, we work closely with our agronomist. Every field is individually analysed to ensure precise fertiliser application—no more, no less, and always at the optimal rate.

As part of our crop management plan, this targeted fertiliser strategy improves soil health while delivering essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

As a result, we produce stronger, healthier grass with improved growth, better disease resistance, and greater resilience to challenging conditions such as drought.

Ultimately, it’s all about giving this year’s crop the very best start. 🌱

Start of the Turf Season | Flat Racing Returns

All of us at Baillie Haylage are delighted to welcome back the turf season for flat racing. 🌱🏇

For us, this marks the true start of spring. As the weather begins to change, excitement builds, horses return to the turf, and a strong season of racing lies ahead.
