Celebrating 30 Years of Baillie Haylage

What's New

Spring has Sprung 2025

Spring has sprung in Lincolnshire (finally), and April was the sunniest on record for the UK. Great for vitamin D levels but not so much for growing grass!

Grass Update

With first cut not too far away, our team have been monitoring the grass situation closely. Luckily the fertiliser with the little rain we had following application seems to be doing it's job. In terms of grazing though we've seen a sudden increase in orders, as the drought has stunted growth. Horse owners are needing to use an additional source of forage until the rain comes again and our grazing fields are lush with green grass once more. Our 20kg handy bales are perfect for this situation, particularly for one-two horse owners. We have a fantastic network of stockists across the UK, you can search for you nearest here: https://www.bailliehaylage.co.uk/stockists/

Feeding Haylage on Stud Yards

Our latest blog is now live. If you own or work on a stud yard, it's one not to be missed. Hannah Williams, Equine Nutrition Lecturer at Bishop Burton University Centre has written a practical guide for feeding haylage to broodmares and stallions. Broodmares, breeding stallions and working stallions have specific nutritional demands that must be met to support fertility, performance, and overall health. Haylage is more widely used in such situations. It brings several benefits over dry hay and hay replacers. Read more here.
